The midfielder committed his future to the club until June 2012 last night after holding talks with Vice-President Adriano Galliani.
"It was what we all wanted," said the player whose previous agreement was set to expire next month. "I'm really happy, it all went well.

"I didn't really want to talk about my other options. There was interest in me, but nothing concrete. I only had one desire…"
Ambrosini is just the latest in a long line of Milan players to have their deals extended this week, but not Andrea Pirlo who walked away.
"I want to thank Pirlo," Ambrosini continued. "He's a unique player and an extraordinary guy.
"We shared so many moments together and reached important objectives with Milan – also thanks to him."
The former Vicenza player was also asked for his opinion on Clarence Seedorf who is still pondering his future.
"I think that Clarence will stay," he stated. "It's clear what both parties want and I think the last few details will be sorted out soon."
