Massimo Ambrosini will have to wait until the end of the season before being told whether he will be handed a new contract at Milan.

The midfielder, who will be 35 in May, signed a one-year deal at the end of the last campaign and the same scenario may happen this time around.

“There is nothing to report on the contract front,” agent Moreno Roggi told Milan News. “There won’t be any time soon either.

“If the player does renew his contract at the club then that will only happen at the end of this present campaign.

“We are only in February now and it is too soon to discuss this situation.

“There is a certain bond between Ambrosini and Milan, but everything will be examined calmly at the end of the season.”

The former Italian international, who was signed by the Rossoneri in 1995 from Cesena, is understood to be of interest to Genoa.

Ambrosini, who could be available on a Bosman in June, has scored one goal in 15 Serie A appearances this term. He’s also been used four times in the Champions League.
