Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin is proud to have made the club's history, but doesn’t know what the future has in store for him.
Perin had joined Genoa on a dry loan deal from Juventus in September 2020 and played his 200th game with the Grifone against Benevento last week.
“I am proud of it. I’ve made the history of this club alongside Criscito and overtaking historical names such as those of Torrente and Ruotolo, but the most important thing is to play for Genoa’s good,” the 28-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I am proud of it. I’ve made the history of this club alongside Criscito and overtaking historical names such as those of Torrente and Ruotolo, but the most important thing is to play for Genoa’s good,” the 28-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The team has improved and I’ve improved too. We had problems related to COVID at the beginning of the season. We overcame them, and now we are close to our target.”
Perin tested positive for COVID along with 21 Genoa players and staff members in October.
Back in December, Davide Ballardini replaced Rolando Maran as Genoa were heavily involved in the race for survival.
“A new attitude has made the difference, if we hadn’t changed it it would have been a difficult season, now we must secure Serie A survival as soon as we can,” Perin claimed.
The goalkeeper is on loan from Juventus and could remain at the club next season if Gianluigi Buffon leaves.
“He was my role model, training with him at Juventus and with the national team was a dream come true,” Perin said.
“I am 28 and I’ve played ten seasons in Serie A. I came back to life several times, this would be one more. I always try to raise the bar, I am ambitious. I don’t what the future has in store for me, but I take what life gives me, knowing that I will receive what I deserve.
“I’ve made many mistakes in life, as a man and as a footballer, but some mistakes make you grow. My family and my kids have helped me.”
