Inter-owned Alvaro Pereira has ended his loan spell at Sao Paulo early to join Estudiantes for “personal reasons.”

The 29-year-old Uruguayan left-back had gone on loan to Sao Paulo in January 2014 and had been expected to stay there until June 2015.

However, today he announced that he was switching over to Estudiantes for the next six months.

“The reason for my departure is personal. I will always be grateful to the directors for understanding my needs.

“The reason for my departure is personal. I will always be grateful to the directors for understanding my needs.

“I want to thank the family of Sao Paulo, as I had a marvellous year here and can say I am a fan of Sao Paulo. Who knows, in future I might return and wear this jersey again.”

Sao Paulo director Gustavo Vieira de Oliveira revealed the club “will receive financial compensation.”
