Former Serie A midfielder Matias Almeyda is hoping to follow in the coaching footsteps of Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
“He is a great tactician,” the former Lazio, Parma, Inter and Brescia man noted. “I often refer to him as an example.
“I’d really like to retrace his steps.
“I often watch Spanish football and to take charge of a club like Real Madrid would be a real dream come true.”
Almeyda, 39, took up coaching in 2011 after he was handed control of River Plate until he was sacked in November 2012.
The former midfielder won the Scudetto as a player in 1999-2000 with Lazio.
