Massimiliano Allegri warns Juventus about tomorrow’s game against Venezia and reveals Arthur won’t travel with the team because he was late for this morning’s training.
The Serie A giants finished top of their Champions League group, but Allegri wants his player to quickly switch to Serie A where the Bianconeri are 11 points off leaders Milan and even points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.
“It will be a complicated game, Venezia have scored many goals at home,” Allegri said at a press conference.
“We must respect them and have their same mentality. We need to right approach and if we match them physically, our technical qualities will emerge.
“It won’t be easy. The pitch looks smaller, and none of our players has ever played there except [Giorgio] Chiellini and me, many years ago.
“[Paolo] Zanetti deserve praise because Venezia play really well, it will be important to come home with the three points.”
Paulo Dybala is fit and so is Mattia De Sciglio, but the Bianconeri will be without Weston McKennie, Aaron Ramsey and Arthur.
However, the latter is not injured but has been punished for being late for this morning’s training.
“McKennie trained partially with the rest of the team, but will resume training with the group next week,” said Allegri.
“Ramsey is still out. Arthur was unlucky this morning, he was late, so he wouldn’t be called up.
“Being late the day before a match is not fine, so he won’t travel with the team. These things happen. He will return to training from Tuesday.”
Juventus have the worst attacking record among the top ten Serie A clubs with only 22 goals scored in 16 games.
The Tuscan tactician believes his players must be more clinical in front of goal because they produce enough chances to find the net more often.
“We must be more clinical. Our goal average is too low,” he said. “We need five chances to score one goal and it’s not enough,” he said.
“Tomorrow, we need the right approach, but I believe the lads have understood how important the game is.
“If De Sciglio plays, Cuadrado will play in a more offensive position, Bernardeschi will play on the left because he has more freedom and tends to do better there than on the right.”
