Max Allegri hopes Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria have already understood Juventus tactics as they both start against Verona tonight. ‘Vlahovic likes a more central role.’

It kicks off at 19.45 GMT on a foggy night at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

The Bianconeri were the most active on the January transfer market and threw new signings Vlahovic and Zakaria straight into the starting XI against Verona this evening for their debuts. Have they already fully understood Allegri’s tactics?

“We’ll see how they perform this evening,” smiled the coach on DAZN.

“It is an important game against a Verona side that is doing great things this season, they have quality and strength, we’ll have to show respect, fight them on the same level in terms of determination, and then try to make the most of our own technical quality.

“As I’ve said before, you have to win games on both levels. If you don’t have the same determination and work-rate in individual duels, you’re not going to win. Once we do that, we can try to use our quality, but you need both.”

Allegri appears to have shifted Juventus to a 4-3-3 formation, or possibly a 4-3-1-2 with Paulo Dybala behind Alvaro Morata and Vlahovic. Has the arrival of the former Fiorentina hitman, and current Serie A Capocannoniere, changed the way Juve attack?

“Vlahovic is a player who likes a more central role, while we also want to make more of the qualities of Alvaro and Paulo.”
