Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has revealed he will make ‘some changes’ against Spezia on Wednesday. ‘Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt will start’.

The Old Lady prepares for the match against Spezia on Wednesday and coach Allegri has revealed he will need to make some changes ahead of the fifth game of the season.

“Tomorrow, there will be some changes,” Allegri said at a press conference. “Some players have played many games; Giorgio Chiellini is developing a fever.

Report: ‘Allegri struggled to communicate with the team’

“Spezia are a team that plays without worries and playing in their stadium is never easy.

“We must play at par mentally and physically, to bring out the technical qualities. In the second halves, we make mistakes, even when there’s not much pressure.

After having revealed he made the ‘wrong changes’ against Milan last time, Allegri demands ‘responsibility’ from the players on the bench.

“Talking about the past makes no sense,” he continued. “Tomorrow, we have to win, there’s nothing more to say.

“Those who start on the bench must be decisive when they enter, as an approach. Now, there are 16 players, not 14, I demand responsibility.

“I watched back the game on Sunday, we missed too many free balls. In football, there are occasions, and you pay for it, you might even risk losing. It takes clarity.”

Allegri believes the team, who are looking for their first triumph in Serie A 2021-22, only needs to start winning some games to turn things around completely.

He confirmed Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt will start and pointed out that he will not change to a back-three.

“Victories help,” he added. “We are a team with many good players, some with more experience, others with less.

“But we are not a ‘young’ team. Experience is one thing, age is another. Tomorrow, Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt will start the match. The defence? We have always defended with four players.”

Allegri believes Arthur Melo and Kaio Jorge will be back with the Bianconeri after the next international break.

“Arthur’s recovery is going well, after the break he will be back with us,” Allegri added and then spoke about Kaio Jorge.

“Kaio Jorge should also return after the international break.”

Allegri stressed there’s ‘no tension within the group’ and said he’s working with all the players in the squad to ‘help them grow’.

“Tension? There’s no tension within the group,” he said. “We all work together to do things well. We made a mistake on Milan’s goal.

“The inclusion of Manuel Locatelli is going well, he must find the mental and physical balance to play many games in a row.

“The goal is to help players improve, even the most experienced do it. I speak to all the players to help them grow, we all want to achieve important goals together, on the pitch and on a personal level.”

  1. The changes will be to ask the players to mover slower and pass the ball backwards and sideways every time regardless if they score first. Spezia will dominate them and move the ball with more urgency. Chiesa will be punished and left on the bench for daring to move the ball quickly and zipping past his opponents. Rabiot will play as right back and Bentancur as a false number nine. KULUDESCHI will be asked to study his mentor Bernadeschi more closely on how to give the ball away with every first touch. Thank god Real Madrid did not get this man. They would not tolerate this geriatric 1970’s style typical Italian approach. I think he needs to take an apprenticeship with Mancini to learn that football can be played more than 5 mph.

  2. Chill Chris , we haven’t been playing badly. There’s room for improvement , but the squad has been in downslope for the last three years. Everyone has seen it and to blame the coaches is just plain dumb. The squad need mid reinforcements, def in playmaking role, we shall see what juve does in January and summer. The most important thing is opening the stadiums 100% Italy is losing insane amounts money compared to the other top Leagues

  3. Chris, I do think you have valid points. I think Allegri’s style has gotten old. The game has evolved even in the last 4 years. Maybe Tuchel has a similar approach, but he is successful mind.

I do worry that Allegri will make some players worse, especially Chiesa. Chiesa has shown that he is a worldy. One of the best and most exciting players at the Euros and was the most threatening player in Juve’s 2nd game (but he got pulled after 60 minutes).

It’s looking like the reappointment of Allegri was a major mistake.

  4. As far as i can see Allegri can not motivate this squad to play any other way than it has been. Boring ,slow defensive and passive is how the team is at present. It will need a complete turn around in attitude to get a result against Spezia.
So lets see if we get a reaction, a convincing win is the least i expect from this team full of internationals.

  5. I agree Allegri peaked with his 2 CL finals and scudetto victories,

He’s now realised himself that he’s clueless on how to take this quality Juve squad to a even higher level,

    A top coach would never
storm off angry if he was in total control,

  6. Gp needs please check your eyesight. Juve not playing badly. 4 goals scored compared to Inter‘s 15 and they lost Lukaku and Hakimi. Juve kept all their players but cannot offload them. I get fed up of people saying wait till Jan or the summer. As you said they lost over £200 million in revenues. They are not going to reinforce the squad. They cannot offload those lazy players as they are on too big salaries. Do you really think Bayern and the likes on Chelsea will go anywhere near Rabiot, Bentancur and the second hand banger goalkeeper with their demands for no returns. There biggest mistake was departing with Marotta and letting him walk to Inter. Managers do have an impact. Conte has built teams up and got the best out of them. Allegri is an imposter. He won the league at Milan only because they had star players. He won at Juve the first time only from the foundations Conte had left. Now he has to do it on his own and he cannot handle it that is why he screamed off the pitch. He never had the balls to take the Real job or Man Utd as they would not put up with that type of acidic football.

  7. If people think this squad is quality then this club is in trouble for the foreseeable future. The issues are not coaching. They have tried 3 in 3 years all with different approaches. Sarri did not have the players and said they were untrainable. Pirlo had no experience but a vision again without no reinforcements. Allegri thinks it is 1984 and that playing catenaccio will still work.

The issues are at the top. Agnelli must be thanked for what he did in the last 10 years. New stadium and 9 titles in a row. He has got too arrogant. I agree with Chris letting Marotta go was the biggest mistake as he was a shrewd operator and knew how to sell, buy and make a profit. They got this guy called Arrivabene who is not a footballing man. He came from Ferrari and did not turn them around.

The thought of a Super League being spearheaded by Agnelli is laughable as they are in the relegation zone. Imagine if Salernitana wins and Spezia pulls one out the bag. They would be bottom.

They should have swallowed pride and brought back Conte. If anyone can kick this garbage squad at least into some sort of shape it is him. He has done it his entire career. I would take his constant moaning if that meant instant success or at least bringing back the grinta and dna. Problem is they burnt bridges forever.
