Max Allegri got his first win of the season in the Champions League and his advice to Juventus players in training was focused on ‘mentality.’

The Bianconeri had a dismal start to the Serie A campaign, fumbling a 2-0 lead for 2-2 away to Udinese, then losing against both Empoli and Napoli.

They finally got back on track in Europe on Tuesday, sweeping Malmo aside 3-0 in Sweden with goals from Alex Sandro, Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata.

Juve got back to work at the Continassa ground in Turin and those in attendance observed Allegri’s team talk during a game between ranks.

“During times of struggle, if we take our foot off the gas mentally, then we will lose the ball and concede a goal,” Allegri told his players during training.

“It is in our minds that we must find the determination to win.”

The 3-0 result away to Malmo was the first clean sheet Juventus have kept in all competition since March 2.

Among the reasons for bringing Allegri back to Turin was the search for that defensive solidity that was lost during the tenures of Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo.

The Old Lady faces Serie A leaders Milan this weekend at the Allianz Juventus Stadium.
