Massimiliano Allegri reveals Moise Kean would have joined Juventus regardless of Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale and wishes CR7 ‘all the best’ for his future at Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford in a €15m deal from Juventus during the last week of the summer transfer window.
The Bianconeri brought Moise Kean to Turin, but Allegri revealed the Italian striker would have returned to Turin regardless of Ronaldo’s sale.
“He is a young striker, he did well at PSG, scoring a few goals and he would have returned to Juventus even if Ronaldo had stayed,” Allegri said at a press conference.
Juventus will face Napoli at the Stadio Maradona tomorrow, while Ronaldo is expected to make his ‘second’ Manchester United debut in a home Premier League meeting with Newcastle.
The Old Lady’s director Federico Cherubini had discussed Ronaldo’s exit in an interview with Tuttosport, claiming Kean should not have the pressure to become his replacement because the Portuguese ace “can’t be replaced.”
“Ronaldo didn’t want to play for Juventus anymore, so he returned to United,” Allegri said.
“It would have been his last season at Juventus, so we anticipated what we would have done next summer.
“Cristiano spent three amazing years at Juventus and we wish him the best, but life goes on,” the coach continued.
“I don’t like to think about what could have happened, in life, you need to be practical. Here at Juventus, the group has always won trophies, not the single footballer.
“We have this characteristic in our DNA made of self-love and sacrifice. In order to be competitive and win, we must have ambition and passion.”
Juventus have collected just one point from their opening two Serie A games. They were held to a 2-2 stalemate by Udinese and lost 1-0 at home against newly-promoted Empoli in their first game after Cristiano Ronaldo’s sale.
