One of Massimiliano Allegri’s best friends has revealed “he told me he’s staying with Milan because the players are all behind him.”

The issue of whether or not Allegri will stick with the Rossoneri continues to drag on ahead of a crunch meeting with President Silvio Berlusconi tomorrow evening.

According to Andrea Camplone, the current Coach of Perugia, the decision has already been made.

“I received a phone call that made me very happy,” explained Camplone in a Press conference this afternoon.

“Allegri called me up to wish me the best for the play-offs. He told me he’s staying with Milan because the players are all behind him, so are the fans and he certainly won’t be leaving of his own accord.”

At the same time, Sky Sport Italia claim a Roma director admitted they were “so close to signing Allegri,” but that they’ve now been forced to look elsewhere.

There are reports that Berlusconi will only offer Allegri a contract renewal if Milan win the Champions League preliminary round in August.

The Coach has a current deal that expires in June 2014.
