Juventus are bitterly disappointed following the 5-1 loss to Napoli but Massimiliano Allegri’s position is not yet at risk, although things could change in the summer.

The Old Lady suffered their worst defeat in three decades at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Friday, allowing the home side to run riot and send a clear message in this season’s title race. Napoli now sit 10 points clear of Juventus at the top of the table and are on track to win their first Scudetto in over 30 years.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are not considering dismissing Allegri at this stage, appreciating that whilst he was responsible for the 5-1 loss, he was also responsible for the eight consecutive wins.

The club’s management are discussing their plans for the future, and something that protects Allegri a little is his €7.5m net per season contract, which lasts until 2025. Despite this, Juventus are still seriously considering the idea of appointing either Zinedine Zidane or Antonio Conte in the summer.

A major problem, however, are the costs associated with this idea. Dismissing Allegri and bringing in one of the two elite coaches would cost around €60-90m, huge sums for a club currently under investigation for financial malpractice.

  1. Question: It was reported that when the board resigned, Allegri too offered his resignation. If that’s true, would the club still have been obligated to pay his salary until 2025?
Seems to me that they had a real opportunity to explore other coaching options at that point…

  2. They missed a great opportunity,
De Zerbi was available for ages, and now he’s with Brighton at around 2.5m per Yr. That’s what u call a good deal instead of looking in the past,
FI, can u please explain why u didn’t print my earlier comment ?
