The six-time Scudetto winner has offered patron Aldo Spinelli a hand in saving Livorno from relegation to Serie C, with the Amaranto bottom of the second tier.

“I can say that I was moved when I spoke to the coach whom I consider to be the best in Europe,” Spinelli told the Corriere dello Sport. “He called me, and we met in Monte Carlo.”

“I felt he was very charged, he told me he wanted to express his opinion on our next moves to set up a highly competitive team for next season, no matter what category we are in.”

It would require a miracle to keep the Triglie in Serie B but it’s still mathematically possible to reach the play-outs and with the club still up for sale, Spinelli confirmed he has tied down his best players and wants the best for the team going forward.

“Hopefully, he knows someone who’s interested in the club,” Spinelli added. “But right now, we aim to save our place and get to the play-outs.

“Allegri loves his city and would be sorry if the football team were in difficulties at the end of the season.”
