Daniele Rugani has entered the last year of his contract with Juventus and Massimiliano Allegri wants him to be offered a new deal.

The 29-year-old Italian defender did not feature prominently in Turin last season, seeing just 742 minutes of action across 11 total appearances. He was left on the bench for their 2023-24 season opener against Udinese.

Rugani has been with Juventus since the summer of 2015 and has proven useful as a rotation option, filling in when needed in the backline. He briefly spent time on loan with Rennes and Cagliari in the 2020-21 campaign.

As reported by Goal.com, SportItalia and Calciomercato.com, Allegri has convinced Juventus to offer a new contract to Rugani and negotiations are expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The current plan is to offer him a new three-year deal with a lower salary than his current agreement, dropping it from €2.8m to €2-2.3m net per season plus add-ons.
