Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri provides an injury update on Weston McKennie and hopes the USMNT international returns to action before the end of the season.

The former Schalke had suffered a compound fracture of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones of his left foot in Juventus’ Champions League clash against Villarreal in February.

Allegri had claimed his season was over, but McKennie gave hope to Juventus fans last week, saying he could return to action before the end of the campaign. During today’s press conference ahead of a Serie A tie with Cagliari, Allegri confirmed that the 23-year-old may be back next month.

“Right now, he is just walking. Hopefully, he can return at the beginning of May and be available for the last four or five matches,” the 54-year-old said.

McKennie, 24, is in his second season in Turin. Juventus made his move permanent for circa €18m one year ago. He has four goals in 28 appearances across all competitions this season. During the last campaign under Andrea Pirlo, his first one in Italy, the USMNT international collected six goals and three assists in 46 appearances.
