Coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that defensive mistakes cost Milan in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Juventus.

The Rossoneri took the lead in the annual Trofeo Berlusconi game, but were eventually beaten by the Italian champions.

“We conceded goals that we could have avoided,” the former Cagliari tactician noted to Milan Channel after the tie.

“We need to work better in the defensive department, but Cristian Zapata and Mario Yepes had never played together before.”

After given his stoppers a wake-up call, Allegri then turned his attention to the attacking department of the side. “We need to become more decisive up front as well,” he stated.

One thing that the Coach was pleased with was the performance of Riccardo Montolivo, the Bosman signing from Fiorentina.

“Montolivo knows how to play good football,” he continued. “He also did some very good things in the defensive phase.”
