Max Allegri arrived at Juventus in mid-July 2014 with pre-season already begun amid a hail of abuse, he left five years later with 11 trophies.

The tactician is under contract until June 2020, but the club confirmed in a statement today that he will not be on their bench for the 2019-20 season.

Allegri took over in odd circumstances, as after three consecutive Serie A titles, Antonio Conte suddenly announced two days into pre-season training for 2014-15 that he was walking away.

President Andrea Agnelli rushed to find a replacement and picked Allegri, who had been sacked by Milan in January 2014.

The car carrying Allegri and Agnelli to the training ground for their opening Press conference was attacked by fans, who kicked and spat at the vehicle during their furious protests.

The Livorno native won them over by reaching the Champions League Final in his first season, not to mention the Scudetto again and the Coppa Italia.

He went on to win 11 trophies on the Juve bench, including five consecutive Serie A titles, four editions of the Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.

Allegri leaves with so far 269 competitive games under his belt, winning 191, drawing 40 and losing 38.

However, the early exit from the Champions League to Ajax in the quarter-finals and the seemingly negative approach to football irritated fans in recent months.

“I was just thinking, imagine if I hadn’t brought in a few trophies,” said Allegri in his Press conference last week.

“They’d have burned me at the stake!”

His departure is now greeted with a mixture of celebration and sadness, much like the moment he arrived.
