The away goals rule has been abolished in Europe this season, so if the teams end level on aggregate, it will go to extra time or even penalties.

“We need to play well and with patience against a very good team,” Allegri told Amazon Prime Italia.

“Unai Emery has won so much in Europe, we need an excellent performance. It could become a very tactical game or it could have the deadlock broken straight away, we will see what happens. Substitutions are also an important element of the tie.”

Juventus went out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 for two years running under Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo, but Allegri has a good record in Europe.

“Reaching the quarter-finals would be a great achievement, especially as we are still in the running on all fronts going into the final weeks of the season.

“I told the lads if they don’t want to train tomorrow, then we need to book our place in the next round.”
