With Max Allegri’s return, Juventus are now expected to offer Giorgio Chiellini a new contract, albeit with a pay cut.

The defender’s current deal is due to expire on June 30 and he was likely to walk away, deciding whether to retire or attempt another experience abroad.

He turns 37 in August and is now expected to sign an extension at Juventus that will take him to the end of his career.

According to Calciomercato.com, he’ll earn less than the current €3.5m per season salary.

It should also include a clause allowing Chiellini to become part of the club staff following his retirement in 2022.

With Gianluigi Buffon leaving, Chiellini will become the most senior Juventus figure in the locker room.

The Italy international centre-back has been in the Bianconeri squad since 2005.
