Max Allegri insists Juventus fans should not complain about a 1-0 win over Spezia. ‘If you want to reach your objectives, you have to play these games and win while suffering.’

The Bianconeri have won nine of their last 14 competitive matches, drawing the other five, extending their unbeaten run with a 1-0 against Spezia this evening.

Alvaro Morata’s early goal, scored after goalkeeper Ivan Provedel’s poor clearance was intercepted, proved enough to get all three points.

“It was a good start, we should’ve had more than two goals in the first half. Then some fatigue set in, which can happen when you have so many players out and cannot rotate,” Allegri told DAZN.

“If you want to reach your objectives, you have to play these games with suffering and it was important to bring home the three points. We need to prepare for Sampdoria, then Villarreal and continue this cycle in the best possible way.”

This hard-working and humble approach was not something Juve fans had become accustomed to under the coaches who followed Allegri, namely Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo.

Allegri has repeatedly insisted the Old Lady are not in the title race, but with Napoli and Milan going head-to-head this evening and Juve closing fast, few believe him.

“I have never seen a team win every game easily. You get to the Champions League and all your targets through performances like this, winning 1-0 with suffering.

“People forget quickly in football, but in my five years we had a lot of 1-0 results spent sitting in our own half for the final 20 minutes. The important thing is not to let anything go in those moments.”

Juventus fans have complained that the Bianconeri aren’t very courageous in these situations and pass sideways or backwards rather than forwards.

“Spezia were pushing forward better in the second half, we allowed them a few efforts and Szczesny made a good save, but we had a few favourable situations too. It’s only natural we’d be a bit tired at the moment.”

Paulo Dybala was on the verge of his comeback when he pulled up with yet another muscular problem.

“It is disappointing, as Paulo stopped in training so was not available. Fortunately it’s nothing serious, so I hope to have him back if not against Sampdoria, then with Villarreal.”

  1. Tough game, just lucky to get 3 points… but my hair are becoming grey when I see every touch every move of Rabiot, I am not sure if he fits for serie b,

  2. I’d sack him in an instant. For god sake, it is against the near relegation zone team (No offence to Venezia) and Juve were defending.

  3. 3 points all that matters. What does it say about the top 3 when they’re just 5 points ahead of what you guys call a terrible team?

  4. Nothing surprising, Allegri always played conservative, terrible, football..
At Milan, he had Berlusconi on his back, and the baggage of the Milan tradition of attacking football, so we saw glimpses of decent football there. At Juve, no one cares, as long as you win.

  5. Why does he keep talking about suffering? Why should Juve “suffer” in their own stadium against a small team that is just above relegation???!!
Looked at the stats and Spezia had MORE shots on target and more shots inside the box. How is that even possible?

  6. That is why they pay the padlock master of sleep football the big bucks. Heaven forbid if the 7/9 losers in the CL ever came up against a European giant. To play 10-0-1 against Villarreal with just Dusan up front was masterful.

  7. Yes, he was right. People forget quickly. They will remember the ones who win, not those who play attractive football. The team is in transition, a lot of new players, new system to develop, understanding and synergy still a long way to go … you can’t always get both results and eye-catching performances at the same time. If we lose points, it will only create more chaos and dissatisfaction in the team. It is very important to win now to restore self-confidence, self-esteem, and winning spirit in the team. No point to play well and lose. We have to stick to and support his plan. Champions League qualification is a must now, beautiful football can wait.

  8. Hopefully they fire him after this season! Should just accept the current state of affairs and begin a new cycle with a young ambitious exciting coach. Any coach in the league could achieve 1-0 over spezia with this squad. It is not impressive by any means its a deseperate weak looking game. If they had stuck woth pirlo probably have a firm foot by now. Sad desperate measures by allegri.

  9. That’s why i prefer to sleep this morning knowing this will happen… poor football gameplay from Allegri

  10. There are 2 ways of looking at . Juve need UCL qualification and the squad is ruined by injuries, so this kind of football is needed. Get to the summer with 4th place and regroup.

But the other way is looking at entertainment- this Juve team are of the LEAST entertaining teams ever. How fans can pay to watch this is beyond me!

And yes, I am dreading the UCL match against Villareal cos it could easily go wrong- Juve arent winning 1-0 with mean defence, they are winning 1-0 with LUCK. Speczia missed some sitters, they had 5 shots insider the box. Just imagine if Juve play Man City in the last 8!!

  11. We are just lucky to get these 3 points with such faggot like rabiot inside the team, he is homic

  12. Dont you see that faggot is losing every single ball no matter in opponents in his own half of the field or in the middle, there is so low level player inside thats why we yesterday looked weak again

  13. Basically a huge photo of Allegri warning his team that only 1 goal is allowed against the strong team Spezia. They are too dangerous for the mighty Juve.

  14. Even with injuries from left to right, seeing Soule and Miretti starting any game is somehing really hard to come by

  15. @Ringo yes Injuries reason doesn’t fit here… he is playing like this since the beginning of the season… this is on Allegri and his philosophy, he is play savety, coutious and reactive translate to poor gameplay on the pitch

  16. For a Milan fan, I honestly think the Juve fans are not being fair to Allegri and they are not paying attention… His team plays bad and yet he’s competing in all three competition, he’s clawed back into the title race even though no one is paying attention to that and there’s the possibility of him eveb winning the league giving Milan and Inter keep throwing away points which will be sad for Italian football should Juve win this league with their mediocre team.
At this time last season, there was little hope of champions League qualification for Juve. Beautiful performance or not, he’s getting the results in needs at the moment while teams that are playing well keep loosing points.
