Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri said it is his side’s “duty” to win Serie A.

The previous campaign was Allegri’s sixth at the Bianconeri helm across two spells and the first which did yield at least a Scudetto.

It marked the second consecutive season Juve missed out on the Serie A title – ending their winning run at nine – and the first since 2010-11 when they didn’t win a single trophy.

And speaking at a press conference ahead of their pre-season friendly against Mexican side Chivas in Las Vegas, Allegri said: “Juventus, as always, want to achieve every objective.

“This summer has seen some top players arrive: some with experience, some young. Plus, it’s the second season so we are already starting from a good base.

“After a trophyless season, for the first time in 10 years, have a duty to win the Scudetto.”

Last season was the most difficult for Allegri across his two spells with the club.

Having first arrived in 2014, he immediately extending their Scudetto-winning run to four, adding their first Coppa Italia triumph for 20 years and led Juve to the Champions League final.

He then won the league and cup double in each of the next three seasons, before having to settle for just the Serie A title in the final campaign of his first spell in 2018-19.

  1. We all know that MAX
but you have the duty to win UCL, otherwise retire. hopefully this season is your last chance at Juve

  2. UCL? Walk before you can run Brian! Juve have built a great team thanks to the €300m+ capitalization the shareholders made recently and the great signings they win Serie A on paper but I think their goalkeeper is a bigweakness and it hasn’t been addressed again, I’m happy about that…… Dusan tho probably score a goal a game tho with the support he has with Di Maria, Chiesa… which he didn’t have last season so maybe the goalie is a mute point.

For me the last 2 seasons of Serie A have been the best I can remember in decades, think it will keep going!

  3. Good on paper–terrible on the pitch. He will spend half of the season finding his best 11, especially in the midfield area.

  4. PhD Max’s first a duty is to play pack up ball, turn off the engine, get all troops in the trenches for 82 minutes, come out to play for 8 minutes, all the while showing scintillating 1Mbps calcio skills.

  5. They have a chance of winning it, but only because the rest of the teams are so weak, not because they themselves are strong.

Di Maria is well past his best, Pogba is a clown, the defence and midfield is weak. Though Bremer should be a good signing – he’s probably the best they could have gotten.

Milan are as they were, Inter slightly better, Napoli seem to be in trouble, the rest aren’t good enough.

It’s unlikely we’ll see a different league winner for the first time in over 20 years other than the 3 that have won it in that time.

  6. I am excited about the new look Juventus, Pogba will destroy the rest of Serie A, Vlahovic will score loads of goals with the help of Di Maria and we have Chiesa to come. Forza Juve.

  7. @Interello
Juve and Allegri walk over all Italian titles for 5 years and we are so bored of seeing another Seria A and Coppa Italia title. Juve just wants UCL. and we don’t walk before run . we jump to get it
maybe Serie A is interesting for you inter fans. not for us.
And this Juve team is well capable of winning UCL with this squad.

  8. @Brian are you okay? Please put the crack pipe down! This Juve squad have no chance of winning the UCL. Anything can happen but unlikely given the talent, depth and strength of the other clubs around Europe.

  9. @Tony
Crack pipe is up your brain tunnel
Juve Squad is actually one of the best with Di Maria and Pogba, Real Madrid won UCL with a squad which is literally gathered a decade ago. Don’t cover up for Allegri
He has everything he wants this season. He just has to win UCL , PERIOD. anything less than that is BS

  10. With the strength of the league up from past years when Juve was such a force, Juve have get more savy. Its come down to the finer details and I dont think Juve is a) used to this level of competition and b) really have the ability to be smart. Their winning was a combo of trending up while the rest of the league trended down. This will really shine a light on whether Juves dynasty is that credible or whether they just looked like it because every other team has been playing money ball for 10 years pre elliot pre zhang. I personally think Juve is not a well run organization and we will see more of the cracks this year.

  11. I agree with Brian
Allegri has to win the CL rather than the league for it to be a success.
His own ambitions should be to win CL and Scudetto for him to be considered a great manager,
seeing how badly he’s failed in the past
Also I don’t consider getting stuffed in 2 previous finals a asuccess

  12. Sal the Juve dynasty was absolutely deserved. Juve are the best run club in Italy hands down and not even close. We have not won the league for two years, but were able to put cash on the table immediately for Bremer. Inter and Milan have no money despite their respective wins. To hint that it was fortuitous and talking about pre Zhang etc etc is irrelevant. If they cannot run their club in an efficient way that is their fault. This despite copying us in every move. Whether it was the badge change or going for our former players and directors. Juve have built their own stadium and have been years ahead of the pack. But I disagree with Brian. Even I will admit we are eons away from even thinking about the champions league. We need to get the house in order first and start to win at home before we can talk about objectives like that.

  13. @Brian

Juve’s squad is nowhere near good enough for the CL – just like every other Italian side.

If you think has-beens and wasters like Di Maria and Pogba are the answer, I think you’re in la-la land.

Juve have an average keeper, average defence, average midfield. Last 16 of the CL would be an achievement. with this lot.

Real’s squad was gathered literally a decade ago? Really? lol. ONE of the 30 players they had at the end of the 20011/12 season is still with them.

  14. Angelo – I would agree on running of the club until the Ronaldo fiasco and the Pirlo sacking and the attempt to literally go back in time with the coach amd personell. It wreaks of indecision, of no clear goal forward, of fear and of desperation. The in-fighting between Nedved and Agnelli. The exodus of de ligt. Superleague fiasco. Hiring of a ferrari exec. Fraud allegations of cooking the books and police raid. Id like to agree but there is too much pointing to deep rot.

  15. Also on CL…is juve forward elite? Vlahovic has the potential..the rest..no. mid field elite? Hmm..no. defense elite? No. Keeper?

So they play a unque style to best utilize the players they have? No. Modern tactics/modern tactician? No.

    Ok…

  16. @ Sal
Just curious, what team to you support?

You made some good points but I don’t understand how “hiring a Ferrari exec” is an issue. Yet to see what he can really do. A for the Super League fiasco, well Real Madrid won the CL while in the middle of it just like us.
And the exodus of De Ligt was a blessing.

  17. Breaking news. THAT ALL JUVE MIGHT WIN IS SERIE A TITLE
average club team full off average foreigners and all old players.
Have some balls and put the young Italians on the rooster

  18. HOW DARE YOU!!!

Put some respect on the team led by PhD Maxine. Average club my arse. No team has ever been to more CL finals and finished runners up winners. PhD Maxine is one of the most distinguished coaches of the last 50 years or if not of all time. After all he is a 6 time Scudetto winner. 5 of which came with no competition and a master at the 1-0 dark arts. You watch this season he is going to make sure 1-0 is back on the menu and CL humiliation completed again. Do you not know that people in Asia stay awake till the early hours just to watch a Juve game and get put to sleep after 27 seconds when they step onto the field. Grande Max.
