Max Allegri maintains Juventus should’ve either killed off the game with Roma earlier or found a way to ‘keep the ball and slow it down’ after their 1-1 draw.

The Bianconeri had the perfect start to the match, Dusan Vlahovic curling his free kick in off the underside of the bar after 79 seconds, but they failed to make the first half domination really count.

Instead, Tammy Abraham nodded in the acrobatic Paulo Dybala assist from a corner and it was the second consecutive draw for Juve.

“It is a long season, we even risked losing it on another corner towards the end,” Allegri told DAZN.

“Juve played well on a technical level, but we must still improve. Roma were more defensive on their right in the second half and we should’ve put more crosses in with Weston McKennie on our left.”

“I am happy with what the lads did, it was a good game, Roma are a great team and Jose is always good at keeping his side focused.

“It is unfortunate that Roma scored on the only corner they put to the back post, but that’s football. It was a strong performance.”

Mourinho revealed to DAZN that at the final whistle he was chatting with Allegri and confessed Roma had been very lucky to go into the break only 1-0 down.

“He’s always smart and sharp in the way he reads games. If you don’t kill the game off, then you always leave the possibility of an equaliser,” noted Allegri.

“We were inevitably tired after such a strong first half. We should’ve passed it around and slow down the game, it’s something we need to learn. You cannot expect a team to dominate for 90 minutes.”

Fabio Miretti had a surprise start and the 19-year-old did very well in midfield, but Allegri was eager to take the focus off the teenager.

“Miretti played like a veteran, he is very calm, knows how to escape marking and his first touch is always aimed at going forward. You don’t see many like him.”

The Juventus boss seems to be focusing on a 4-3-3 formation at the moment, but that could change.

“First of all we need to get Federico Chiesa, Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria back, as they all have technique and a change of pace. Having changes on the bench makes a big difference.”

  1. CALMAAA!!!

PhD Dodecahedron made sure the team was well rested after the break with sleep calcio. The nonagon kraken shall be summond against Spezia.

  2. I predicted a draw, but thought it was going to be 0-0, thought kostic was really poor barely put a cross in and de sciglio crossing as bad.

  3. Never a foul on the second. If anything, Vlahovic was pushed. 2-0 would have been game over. 2 lost points.

  4. The second goal was correctly rules out as he handled the ball. Blame the dinosaur. He told the team to back off, go to sleep and turn off the lights.

  5. Two coaches with tactics from the mesozoic era. An absolute borefest. Woeful advert for the league.

  6. Good first half, unlucky not to be 2-0. Nice performance from Miretti though. Still a lot of work to do.
