Max Allegri won’t include Juventus in the Scudetto race, but notes Inter ‘are still the favourites, at least until tomorrow night…’

Milan are top of the Serie A table with 66 points, followed by Napoli on 63, Inter 60 and Juve 59, but the Nerazzurri have a game in hand.

They also need to face the Old Lady in Turin on Sunday evening.

“Inter are still the favourites to win the Scudetto, at least until tomorrow evening…” Juventus coach Allegri told DAZN.

“Clearly, Milan are doing very well, so are Napoli, and I think the Scudetto winner will be one of those three teams.”

Allegri has repeatedly resisted people putting Juve among the contenders, even on their strong unbeaten run that has seen them close the gap dramatically.

They are only seven points adrift of the leaders with eight games left to be played, but while some of the Bianconeri players have mentioned the title, their coach is pouring cold water over these ideas.

“We know that we are challenging to qualify for the Champions League. There are still a lot of points up for grabs and we must stay focused.”

It is the first match after the break for international duty, with several Italy players in the Juventus and Inter squads missing out on the World Cup.

“Fortunately, this is a match that prepares itself on a psychological level, I don’t need to push them to feel motivated and concentrated.”

  1. Allegri is doing the job he was brought in to do. Qualify for the Champions League and improve the squad. While i am not a fan of his style of football he had brough in Vlahovic which is great business. A few more additions at the back and midfield with others returning from injury sould see a great improvement. He is clearly limited by a very weak midfield, aging back line and poor keeper. The players also have to shoulder the blame for some very poor games especially at the start of the season and in the champions league.

A few very bad performances at the start of the season has blown a real title challenge but juve are juve. You never know how the season will end….
