Allegri: ‘I won against Vlahovic, Miretti will play tomorrow’

Massimiliano Allegri jokes about his shooting challenge against Dusan Vlahovic and reveals Fabio Miretti will start against Genoa tomorrow.

The Old Lady has already reached a top-four finish and is preparing for tomorrow’s game with Genoa. Both Juventus and Inter will play on Friday ahead of next week’s Coppa Italia Final in Rome.

“We must collect as many points as possible, we have managed to finish in the top four with three games to spare and we must prepare for the Coppa Italia Final. We need a good performance tomorrow, I’ll field the best team,” Allegri said at a press conference as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

Danilo will rest, Luca Pellegrini has an ankle problem, Juan Cuadrado is back, same for Mattia De Sciglio, even if he won’t be there in Rome [suspended]. Today I will decide the line-up.”

After a second question on the youngster Miretti, Allegri revealed: “He will play tomorrow, are you happy now? I don’t know where, but he will play. I hope the same for De Sciglio. Adrien Rabiot will also play, same as Szczesny.

Miretti, 18, made his senior debut this season and started his first game with Juventus’ first team on Sunday against Venezia.

Who is Juventus talent Fabio Miretti?

“The Coppa Italia is a target, like Serie A and the Champions League,” the coach continued.  “Even if we know that it’s a very difficult competition to win, we always have the same ambition.

“Everyone is waiting for Wednesday’s game, but there is another match first. We must get to the Final with lucidity. It will be a derby d’Italia, and we’ll play against the best team in Italy.”

Video: Allegri-Vlahovic shooting challenge during Juventus’ training session

Juventus had a training session open to fans earlier this week and Allegri was involved in a shooting challenge with Dusan Vlahovic. Of course, he was asked who won the game.

“I put the last shot in, so I won! He scored when it didn’t count,” Allegri said, smiling.

“I am happy with what Vlahovic is doing, I didn’t expect him to do so well at a big club like Juventus. He arrived at the end of January, he had to know his teammates and be available. He has done well and he can improve. Tomorrow he could play.”

Leonardo Bonucci had partially blamed Juventus’ youths for some disappointing results this season, claiming that the team had paid a high price for lack of experience. Allegri once again offered his view on the matter.

“Young players have chances if they are good,” he said.

“The more they play, the more they improve, like every job. When you began your journalist career, you were not as good as you are now. There is a path that must be followed to gain experience. I am curious to see how many young players play abroad. There is a tendency to generalise this thing. It seems that abroad they are always better than us.”

  1. Yeah, Bonucci is correct, to get back to the top, Juve need to ditch the useless young players and buy more 35-40 year olds. Brilliant plan. Watch out Europe, Juve’s golden oldies are coming to get you!

  2. Actually 34 years young is still perhaps a bit too low for 2.0 Max, legend of put me to sleep calcio.

  3. Stop watching him Lord, or do you suffer from insomnia and he’s your cure? If so, be grateful.

  4. @Fate I am sorry you have Lord Allegri Syndrome / TDS. You know you can’t get enough of me just like MOrrati, Debu/DEbbie the circus clown and Fiat alla Fino . I try to watch Juve games but I always fall asleep after 3 minutes. I just expect a 1-0, 2-1, 1-1 or 0-0 with the Legend of Medieval Ball.

  5. We will be much happier if ypu can field miretti as many as he can, not only miretti but also soule, kaio jorge (when he fit again), rovella, fagioli, dragusin

Why juve have to empower their youth or second team if their players end up for nothing?

They all dream of playing for first team

  6. LMAO @lord you are a wordsmith and always cracking me up with your dedication to hating Allegri. Do not forget even he managed to get 5 Scudettos and 1 with Milan. He is still a winner but I admit if you are not a lover of football you never will be after watching them play.

    Medieval ball lol.
