Max Allegri gives some clues as to his tactical choices when Juventus host Sevilla for the Europa League semi-final, insisting he is ‘confident’ Dusan Vlahovic and Angel Di Maria will deliver.
It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).
Both these teams started the season in the Champions League and dropped down to the Europa League, reaching the semi-finals along with Bayer Leverkusen and Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
“Dusan scored two goals in the last two games, he came on well in Bergamo and is ready to start. I am confident in him and the team,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.
When pressed on whether Juan Cuadrado was acting as a full-back, a wing-back or even part of a trident attack, the coach hedged his bets.
“Cuadrado is on the wing, we’ll see if it’s a bit further back or further forward.”
Di Maria is also back in the starting XI and has been a key figure in the Europa League so far for Juventus.
“These are knockout rounds that can be decided by the individual talents, so naturally someone like Angel can make the difference.”
It appears to be a 3-5-1-1 formation with Di Maria supporting Vlahovic, while Federico Chiesa is left on the bench.
“The team is in good shape, had two good training sessions after the victory against Atalanta. It was tough to make the choices this evening and I hope I got it right.”
