Max Allegri is emerging as the favourite for both Roma and Chelsea if they sack their coaches Paulo Fonseca and Frank Lampard.

The former Milan and Juventus boss is now a free agent and has been taking a break since he was fired by Juve in the summer of 2019.

He was dismissed despite winning five consecutive Serie A titles and reaching two Champions League Finals.

The English media are increasingly suggesting Allegri is the first choice should Lampard be dismissed.

However, they face stiff competition from Roma, as the situation around Fonseca has imploded over the last few days.

The Corriere dello Sport claim Allegri would be prepared to take the Roma job, with Fonseca hanging by a thread.

The Portuguese tactician’s role is increasingly under threat after the 3-0 Derby della Capitale loss to Lazio and their Coppa Italia exit to Spezia.
