Diario AS and Sky Sport Italia claim Max Allegri will become the new Real Madrid coach rather than Antonio Conte, as Zinedine Zidane is heading towards Juventus, so Inter are left without their two top choices.

Sky Sport Italia, Diario AS, ESPN and Mundo Deportivo all report this evening that Zidane has told players and members of staff that he is leaving Real Madrid with immediate effect.

There were three candidates mentioned to replace him, two of them Italian.

They were Allegri, Conte and former Madrid player Raul.

Conte just terminated his contract by mutual consent with Inter today, and as part of the agreement he cannot sign for another Serie A club in the 2021-22 season.

However, Allegri had recently stated he rejected the Real Madrid job when at Juventus and would love to take on that role.

Allegri had been in advanced talks for a return to Juve, but with Zidane suddenly available, the Bianconeri are diving straight in for the Frenchman and the Italian is heading to Madrid.

With news Simone Inzaghi is set to extend his contract with Lazio until June 2024, it means Inter have lost their current coach and both favoured options to replace him – Inzaghi and Allegri.
