Max Allegri explains his decision to give teenager Fabio Miretti his first start against Venezia and admits there are ‘so many regrets this season’ for Juventus.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 11.30 UK time (10.30 GMT).

Miretti has made three appearances between Serie A and the Champions League for a handful of minutes, but this is more than a mere cameo, as he is in the starting XI to pull the midfield strings.

“The lad plays football well, so he just needs to relax, he’ll be helped by the others, but he doesn’t need that. The important thing is that he’s calm,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

The Bianconeri were held to a 1-1 draw by Venezia earlier this season, one of the many times they dropped points against on paper weaker sides.

“We had so many regrets this season, it’s natural at this stage and other teams are in the same position. Now we need to focus on mathematically securing a Champions League spot and today we face a Venezia side that still has a chance of staying in Serie A.”

Dusan Vlahovic was rested against Sassuolo, but he is back in the starting XI today.

“He scored seven or eight goals since arriving here, so I am happy with what he’s doing. What we need now is a team performance, especially our attitude compared to the first half against Sassuolo.”
