Massimiliano Allegri tried to find the positives following Juventus’ disappointing 1-1 draw with Torino.

The Bianconeri came into this derby hoping for a win in order to consolidate their 4th place spot in the league. They came into this gameday two points ahead of Atalanta, so a win would have maintained their lead over the Bergamo side. Now they risk being tied of points with Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, depending on the result of their match against Fiorentina.

Speaking to DAZN after the draw against Torino, Allegri first reacted to the result and how the single point feels.

“It matters, because with the point we followed up on the positive results we’ve had in the last two to three months. it wasn’t easy, we weren’t brilliant compared to Torino, but we played a good game.

“Paradoxically, we conceded a goal in our best moment. In the first half we had two or three situations where we could have scored, but not in the second half.

“Then we weren’t very clean in the second half, but I think it’s a normal path, it’s natural when you’re playing in the league, especially when you’re aiming to be in the top four, so a draw isn’t to be thrown away.

“I’d say that the guys played a good game in terms of commitment and intensity, they tried to win until the end, so it’s a point that we take home and allows us to extend the positive streak.”

He discussed the injuries to Paulo Dybala, Daniele Rugani and Luca Pellegrini, and if he’s worried.

“I’m not worried at all also because during the season there are injuries and those we have and who are fit and enlisted, will play on Tuesday against Villarreal and then we will prepare for Empoli.”

The Italian coach analysed the performance of star striker Dusan Vlahovic, who failed to have a strong impact in the match.

“He struggled because he’s a very good player, but he has to learn a lot. As many players have to learn. Tonight he had to drag Bremer around the pitch and not give him any points of reference, because he is very strong on direct balls and less strong when you drag him around the pitch.

“Let’s not forget that he comes from a team that is having a very good season but he played one game a week. He’s played six, so I think it’s normal for him to grow. It amuses me because someone comes in and has to play every game.

“You have to grow, you have to get used to it, all the things you need in a great team, otherwise physically you can’t manage to play a game every three days.”

He touched on the performance of his midfielders.

“The three strikers were well marked but you have to move more, Rabiot’s situation you have to do a lot more. I asked Vlahovic to go to Rodriguez’s side, these are situations of the game that you have to learn.

“We were good in the previous games and less good today also because we were less brilliant having less technical cleanliness.”

Allegri spoke about the performance of his attacking trident.

“Dybala shouldn’t have anything in particular. We need to play technically cleaner, when we were we had dangerous chances. In the second half we had to be more decisive in the opponent’s area, we were more fumbling but the important thing is to get to the final goal.”

Finally, Allegri discussed the race for the final top four spot.

“There’s Lazio who are back and then it depends on what Fiorentina do in their next games. Roma are further back but there are still 12 games to go, let’s see now at Villarreal and then what we do in Empoli.”

Juventus’ next match is against La Liga side Villarreal next week on Tuesday, before they face Empoli next weekend.

  1. So Again one game through away if it was Pirlo in his place He would definitely be crossed by the media. Nedved was furious about the way the team played. It’s not the players now it’s the philosophy of the Coach. We need to push higher and be more offensive. I can not understand why he is afraid to play like this?!

  2. 😂 😂 😂. 9 other clubs have scored more goals then the mighty Juventus including Hellas Verona. Vlahovic was flying high under Italiano and had fuel to burn. Suddenly he is out of gas when Allegri comes to fill up at the gas station lol.

  3. yeah after dybala injury we player 442 with rabiot mckenie on the flanks. it was terrible, and they conceded a goal. he just never trusts young players – ake should be introduced and tactics would remain the same. this is a much younger squad then previous he coached – when they struggle, they usually concead. but there is no need for too much struggle because they can dominate a lot more if they are properly coached. i would put this one on allegri, no matter all of this unfortunate injuries.

  4. Dinosaur! He is ruining his Juve legacy and many of the players… We have the absolute best players in Italy and everyone is outplaying us… we play defensive counter attacking football with a team that can compete in the CL… Kulusevski struggled immensely and was sold… Loca and Chiesa before injury struggling, Vlahovic struggled tonight, Moise Kean is absolutely useless and he chose to substitute Kean for Vlahovic instead of giving Kaio Jorge or Ake a chance… watching this team play is infuriating. I would much rather we lose but play a great game (Juve vs Roma) vs this garbage…

  5. Allegri is being forced to commit to the conservative and deluded level of football that he’s got us playing – well you better damn well knock out Villarreal if you’re gonna play this way.
In what way was that a good performance? There was no build up play whatsoever – everyone way too frantic and no good attacking pieces of play.
Vlahovic I really expected more from – for 80m you better damn well make the difference – so far has been nothing special. For that kind of money there’s gotta be far more influential attacking players available!!!! Come on management – another mistake!!!!!

  6. That is the problem with allegri. He is very content with the draw because there are many more games in the league. If it was pep guardiola he will be very disappointed
    These are 2 lost points.

  7. @Louis relax and take a deep breath. Vlahovic is not Mbappe or Haaland. He does not have their raw pace and he will always need service like most players. Unfortunately Zakaria does not have those characteristics as this is not his job. The money is a total waste when it should have been used to get at least 2 new midfielders with the ability to play the ball to feet quickly, unlock defences and there could have been leftover change to replace Sandro. Vlahovic made this move from the heart but not with the head. Juventus are a dream club to play for but not at this moment in time. He should have known what was waiting but nothing will change with Villarreal. Allegri will adopt the same methods as he is a coach stuck in his ways just like Mourinho and to a certain extent Conte. It is not working in Italy and it sure won’t work in Europe where teams go for it. Even with the away goals scrapped Allegri will just look to preserve and hold on to whatever he can get. If they are chasing the match from behind what are you asking of Rabiot and Mckennie? They never were Juve calibre but that is the fault of the club for bringing them in. If you see rotten fruit it is simple look away and do not panic buy even if the seller gives it to you for free.

  8. Unlike other coaches Allegri had everthing in his pocket but simply weak tactical plan and team selection…youngsters such ake and jorge should be playing this kind of game

  9. Allegri is not a modern coach, and honestly he lacks the will and know how to propel this team to greatness….his way of playing is dead..

  10. Yeah right! There’s no way you can dominate and win any game if you still insist to put Rabiot on your starting lineup instead of Arthur. I know, i know, you will come up with lame excuse, “I need one of them to stay fit for the next game as a deep lying playmaker or regista or whatever” But this clown must understand by now that Locatelli or Arthur isn’t Pirlo’s level. They must on the same pitch, side by side to max their potentials. God! Rabiot is simply awful. I don’t know why he is still there. He has no visions, has no balls to asking his teammates (Arthur or Loca) the ball when they are surrounded by opponents. What he’s doing is basically run away from his struggling teammates (pretending he’s open up some space) and that’s huge huge problem! HUGE! That’s why Juve are always struggle against any team that like to press.

  11. He inherited a great Milan side and made them worse (I’ll never forgive him for letting Pirlo go on a free to Juve, unbelievable decision) and he inherited a great Juve side in his first spell and now a good squad that should be challenging. I don’t get what it is that apparently makes him so great…

  12. Building a team does take time though. A lot has changed and Sandro is not a cb. They have the players, now they have to gel and figure out the best lineup.
