Today, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri marks his 200th game in charge of Juventus but admits he ‘didn’t expect’ to make history at the club.

Allegri was first appointed in 2014 when he replaced Antonio Conte two days into the pre-season.

He was sacked in 2019 despite winning 11 trophies across five campaigns in Turin.

When asked if he expected to make history at the club, the Tuscan coach replied: “No, I didn’t. I hoped I could stay for a long time at Juventus, but then I rested for two years. Now we need to focus on the future, there are many things to do. One step at a time, we want to get to the break in the best position.”

Brazilian midfielder Arthur was expected to start against Sassuolo, but the former Barcelona midfielder is once again on the bench with Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli in the middle of the park.

The Bianconeri host the Neroverdi today. It kicks off at 17.30 UK time.

“Dybala has just returned and so Rabiot. I need to rotate a little. I am convinced Arthur will become an important player, but he already is,” he explained DAZN.

Rabiot has recently recovered from COVID, while Dybala starts his first game in a month after recovering from a muscle injury that he had sustained before the October break.

“Today is a dangerous game, we play against a technical team, which is difficult to face. We need to  have patience and handle the ball well.”

Juventus visit Hellas Verona on Saturday before hosting Zenit and Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium.
