Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri seemed calm when discussing his future at the club, reflecting on the team’s development over the last few years.

The Bianconeri fell to Inter in a crucial Derby d’Italia clash on Sunday evening, a result that puts the Nerazzurri four points clear of Allegri’s side with a game in hand, putting the Old Lady on the backfoot in the title race.

Allegri has less than 18 months left on his contract with Juventus and recent reports suggested that he could be offered a new deal, with the club’s management appreciating the direction of the project over the last two-and-a-half years.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset via Calciomercato.com after the match, Allegri was asked about his future at Juventus.

“I have another year on my contract, and I believe that my position is not a priority. The priority is that the boys must stay calm because they had a good match.

“We’re a team that have changed 15 players since I returned, we’ve lowered the average age since I returned.

“The club have given a very specific input to rebuild a team that’ll be able to play in the Champions League, which is sustainable as I was told three years ago and therefore, we’ve changed 15 players in the last two years and despite last year we reached the Champions League.

“We did what we had to do and we’re trying to get there again this year. Sorry about tonight but we definitely need to start winning again from Udinese.”

Recent reports detailed how the Juventus management are thinking about offering Allegri a new long-term contract with a slightly lower salary than the current €7m net per season he earns in Turin.
