Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli was in tears when he was subbed off in the first half of Juventus-Inter and Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that the Italy international suffered a strained collateral ligament.

The Italy international started in centre midfield with Adrien Rabiot but was subbed off after barely more than 30 minutes due to a knee injury. It wasn’t a lucky night for Locatelli, who had previously sustained a head injury, forcing him to play with a head bandage.

Juventus doctors sprayed his right leg while Locatelli was sitting on the floor in tears. Denis Zakaria replaced him.

“He got his head smashed in, but the problem was the knee, it looks like a strained collateral ligament, he should be out for 20 days,” Allegri told DAZN after the game. The player will likely undergo further medical examinations tomorrow.

Juventus suffered two serious knee injuries this season with Federico Chiesa and Kaio Jorge who have been ruled out until 2022-23. Locatelli joined Juventus on loan with an obligation to buy from Sassuolo last summer after winning the Euros with the Azzurri.
