Allegri: ‘Chiesa will become a centre-forward in future’

Max Allegri insists Federico Chiesa ‘is nowhere near at 100 per cent’ after his winner against Chelsea and the Juventus winger will ‘become a centre-forward’ in future, following his father Enrico’s footsteps.

The Italy international turns 24 next month and was already a key figure in the UEFA EURO 2020 triumph over the summer.

He proved his big game credentials yet again with the winning goal against Chelsea in the Champions League, playing as a makeshift False 9.

In his press conference, coach Allegri warned that there is so much more to come from Chiesa.

“He is absolutely not at 100 per cent and this was the first real time he has played as a centre-forward. I told Federico my evaluation, which is that he can play as a centre-forward or a support striker.”

Chiesa would be following in the footsteps of his father, former Parma and Fiorentina hitman Enrico Chiesa.

He is certainly prolific as a winger, able to play on the left or right, last season finding the net 14 times with 10 assists in 43 competitive matches for Juventus.
