Allegri: ‘Chiesa is writing a letter to Santa Claus’

Juventus coach Max Allegri confirmed Federico Chiesa is out until January after suffering a muscle injury against Atalanta. ‘He’s already writing a letter to Santa Claus’.

The Italy international remained lying on the pitch after the half-time whistle against Atalanta and opponent Davide Zappacosta urged the Bianconeri medical staff to intervene.

The former Fiorentina star was replaced during the interval due to a muscle problem, while Weston McKennie was subbed off after 64 minutes with an injury.

The American was replaced by Moise Kean and Allegri was asked about their conditions ahead of the trip to Salernitana on Tuesday.

“For McKennie, it should be a small thing,” Allegri said at a press conference. “But Chiesa is already writing a letter to Santa Claus. We will see him again after the holidays.”

Allegri revealed Rodrigo Bentancur is recovering after all the games and travels due to the international breaks.

“Bentancur is much better, he needed to recover a bit because he played a lot of games,” Allegri added. “He travelled a lot, and the players are not cars. Well, even cars break down after having covered so many kilometres.

“It’s normal that there’s a bit of tiredness, but in this period when he has been out, I have found him more serene and fresh.”
