Max Allegri insists the 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid can ‘only be good’ for Juventus to change their ‘attitude’ and he won’t comment on Alvaro Morata’s hat-trick.

The Bianconeri were flattened at the Continassa training ground in Turin, a change of venue from the original plan to play in Tel Aviv due to security concerns.

Morata scored a hat-trick before the stoppage-time Matheus Cunha effort rounded out the humiliating scoreline for Diego Simeone’s side.

“This defeat can only do us good,” insisted Allegri on Sky Sport Italia.

“We were tired coming in, working hard in training after our return from America. Atleti are certainly at a more advanced stage than us in pre-season preparation, but there is still no excuse. The only solution is to be focused and prepare for our season opener against Sassuolo.

“We must find the positives from the negative situations, we’ve got a week to prepare, above all mentally. We know that when there are three points up for grabs, the attitude will be different.”

Juan Cuadrado did not participate again and Allegri confirmed the reason was “gastroenteritis,” while Moise Kean was sent to the stands as punishment for turning up late.

Kean and Adrien Rabiot won’t be able to play against Sassuolo anyway as they are suspended, with Paul Pogba and Weston McKennie injured.

“This is the squad we have, we need to try and get the three points against Sassuolo with a different attitude,” continued Allegri.

Inevitably, questions are raised about the potential players who could still join, including Filip Kostic and Morata.

“At this moment, I have to work with these players, we have all the quality and possibilities needed to start the season well, but we absolutely need to transform our attitude, be more determined, what Atletico did today.

“I cannot say anything on Morata, because he is an Atletico Madrid player.”

  1. @Fab
The only positive is that probably Elkann will shoot Allegri out of the club, cause others won’t

  2. “We were tired coming in, working hard in training after our return from America. Atleti are certainly at a more advanced stage than us in pre-season preparation, but there is still no excuse.”

Yet he listed 3 different excuses.

And maybe ease up on the training regime. It’s not really working except for exacerbating injuries.

  3. Allegri, u, nedved and agnelli are the major, one n only problem juventus have. The earlier u all are booted out the better for juve. Imagine d kind of ugly, unfruitful and primordial football u play. Shame on u. U are no where near bayern, mancity, real madrid, psg, chelsea, liverpool, barcelona. Juve under u guys is just a glorified under 23 academy. Shame!!!😜

  4. The issue is hypocrisy. It’s preseason so a loss means little but notice how when Juve lose, it’s all about the coach and he should be fired. Inter lose, not a word about the coach despite giving away the league from a strong winning position last year. Equanimity, guys.

  5. Projection by Allegri.

He instills fear and caution into the players. He shackles them, sending them out on the pitch with the handbrake on with no sense of urgency, or fight and an absolute lack of ideas and imagination.

It’s Allegri who needs a change of attitude.

  6. While, yes it’s friendly game.
But conceeding 4 goals means your defense sucks.
Scoring 0 means your attack didn’t work.

So many homework to do especially it’s not a wise move to change the manager when the league is about to start.

Best is also to reinforce the squad within the budget.

  7. same old, same old..
everyone is ahead of us in preparing.
    Everyone has space to grow.
    They need to change mentally.
We must look at the positives.
We played better than when we won.
    etc…

People really need to wake up. Allegri was never good. He was good enough (for something) and that’s it. He no longer has the squad that took him to CL finals. We should have gotten Ten Hag, but Agnelli is playing it safe.

  8. The defeat should change Allegri’s approach and tactics as well as juve’s approach to the transfer market. So disappointing that players like Sandro and co are still playing for Juve. Get rid of dead woods and complete signing that has been dragging for too long.

  9. Dennis, its allegri mentality,
Everyone shinning after they are moved out from juve, yet juve still being dumb under allegri

  10. “This defeat can only do us good” Yes, loosing is actually winning and winning is actually loosing in the world of Phd Max. But only a Phd such as Max can comprehend these things.

  11. Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump! Are you missing me? I’m not living in your head rent free, you gotta pay up, and then put some in the meter so can play CoD and think you’re a hero.
Juve troll who has nothing else to do or write about. This is preseason. Juve has problems but the other league teams suck so it’s nothing insurmountable. Now, it’s past your bedtime so go to sleep and let professionals who get paid do their jobs.

  12. Still keeping you guessing, Forrest. You’ll know from my timezone postings (yes, you’re following me, I know) that I’m not in Europe. I’m closer than you think (wink wink). Now, be a good boy and pay that rent.

  13. Lol as if he’s not the main guy in charge of the team. Well I’ve been saying Allegri is bad since over a decade when he was winning the scudetto with Milan. Was even then futunate that other teams were not that good to challenge a team of Nesta,Thiago Silva, Zlatan,Pirlo ,Dinho (thou he couldn’t effectively use the later two and saying Pirlo wasn’t good as a regista what a fool). I think he hate skillful players. The following seasons, well all his seasons there were played with painful football for the eyes until the last day he was fired – one of my happiest days in the sport.

  14. am not going to say agneli , nedved and allegryb OUT because i said it 100 times and many other juve fans said it , but no one cares , so am not watching juve games anymore, maybe i will only look at results, and am sure many other juve fans will do the same

  15. I’ve been saying this for some time – allegri turned in wenger – he’s outdated/ stubborn. Have to get rid of him

  16. This season is going to be a mirror of the last where the mighty 2 time UCL finalist and his fan girls will pour excuses after excuses as well as pointing fingers to players rather than the tactician for the losses and draws. allegri will still rely on pure luck for results with his dead, ultra defensive, unimpressive, static, bs football regardless talents this team posses.
There will be 1-2 sparks here and there, unimportant ones, which his cheerleaders will celebrate shamelessly like they are winning or doing something important. There will be series of “unfortunate injuries” too, and of course, being Juventus nowadays, there will be humiliation after humiliation just like this one across all competitions.
Vlahovic and other (esp young players) will realize their mistake to trust their careers and growths to someone who seem like never appropriate trust or recognize their potential and (hopefully) will force their way out. Juventus by luck will finish 4th again, or perhaps 3rd if some clubs slipped or do stupid mistakes (again, Juve relies heavily on these factors) along the way. Again like last season allegri’s fan girls will celebrate this as if they’re winning something important, and the cycle continues.
