Reports In Italy claim Massimiliano Allegri is set to meet Juventus‘ Chief Football Officer Francesco Calvo to discuss the appointment of a new sporting director.

With Federico Cherubini facing a ban until the end of the next season, the Bianconeri have targeted several candidates for the sporting director role in 2023-24.

Therefore, according to Gazzetta and TMW, Allegri will meet Calvo to discuss the ideal candidate for the role. The meeting is said to be imminent: ‘It’s more a matter of hours rather than days,’ wrote the pink paper.

Juventus NextGen’s chief Giovanni Manna is one of the candidates should Juventus decide to promote somebody already working for the club. However, there are many more names on their agenda, most notably Cristiano Giuntoli (Napoli), Frederic Massara (Milan), Giovanni Rossi (Sassuolo) and Andrea Berta (Atletico Madrid).

On the other hand, Cherubini may work in different departments of the club until the end of his ban, although Gazzetta claims the director could ‘take a step back’ and resign at the end of the season.

Allegri had words of praise for Chrubini during a post-match press conference on Wednesday.

“He’s always stayed close to me. The club will decide on a new director, I am the coach and they will inform me at the end of the season,” he said.

Allegri is backed by John Elkann and is expected to have a key role in the development of Juventus’ project, therefore he will be involved in the selection process for a new sporting director.
