After Inter, now all Serie A clubs are reportedly ready to negotiate with the Players’ Association for their squads to accept a two-month pay cut.

The Nerazzurri were open about the financial difficulties of the sector and the need for cuts to be made across the board, particularly when it comes to the cost of labour.

While so far none of the Inter players or staff have accepted the appeal to take a two-month pay cut, that hasn’t stopped the Nerazzurri passing on the idea to other clubs.

According to Tuttosport, there was a unanimous vote in Friday’s Lega Serie A meeting to take two steps towards lowering the cost of wages.

The first is to ask the FIGC to postpone the deadlines for the last four months of this season until December 31, 2021.

This would enable clubs to delay payment and not risk bankruptcy or failing to register for the new Serie A season.

Another step is to ask the Players’ Association (AIC) to begin negotiations for all squads to forego two months of their salary.

By approaching the AIC directly and as a group of clubs, they hope to get a better result than by individually negotiating with players.

While Inter started this trend, they have seemingly convinced all of the other clubs currently in Serie A that it is the only way forward during the pandemic.
