Juventus defender Alex Sandro is now just three games away from equalling the all-time Juventus record for most appearances by a foreign player, which is currently held by former captain Pavel Nedved with 327.

Alex Sandro made his 324th competitive appearance for Juventus when he came off the bench in the second half of Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory over Lazio in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

Though he is likely to leave the Allianz Stadium upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2023-24 season, Alex Sandro is expected to break Nedved’s record by the end of the campaign.

In order to set a new record, Alex Sandro requires four more appearances and has eight Serie A matches, a Coppa Italia semi-final second leg and potentially the Coppa Italia final left to do it.

Only one other current Juventus squad member makes the top ten list for Juventus appearances by a foreign player: goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Top 10: Juventus all-time appearances by foreign players

10 – Edgar Davids, 235
9 – Wojciech Szczesny, 245
8 – Stefan Lichtsteiner, 258
7 – Paolo Montero, 278
6 – Paulo Dybala, 293
5 – Luis del Sol, 295
4 – Juan Cuadrado, 314
3 – David Trezeguet, 320
2 – Alex Sandro, 324
1 – Pavel Nedved, 327

  1. Hopefully he doesn’t break the record. His last 200 games were pathetic. He’s only getting played by Allegri because Allegri wants to have him hold the record ahead of Nedved because of the issues he had with Nedved in the past. Sandro is not even good enough to tie Nedved’s boot laces.
