Toby Alderweireld is eager to join Roma and his agents are pushing for the move, it’s reported, but Tottenham’s €28m asking price is too steep.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, negotiations are continuing and the defender is in favour of a transfer, having practically agreed personal terms.
However, Roma are refusing to pay €28m for a player who is already the wrong side of 30.
Their latest offer is €20m and it doesn’t seem as if it’ll go much higher.

Spurs are confident they can get Alderweireld to sign a contract extension, seeing as his current deal is due to expire in June 2020.
A cheaper alternative is Dejan Lovren of Liverpool, but there are question marks over his history with injuries.
