Roma legend Aldair has applauded the club’s decision to target Zdenek Zeman as a replacement for Luis Enrique.

The Giallorossi are in advanced talks with the Pescara boss about returning to the capital after his two-year spell ended in 1999.

“I think he is the right man after the resignation of Luis Enrique,” the former Brazilian defender, who played for Zeman in Rome, told Radio Mana Mana.

“Zeman has never been able to count on a really strong squad, but he’ll be able to work with some really interesting young players.

“He’ll certainly be able to test himself with a stronger group of players than he had while I was still playing.

“Zeman has a winning mentality and he firmly believes in his type of football. Roma will be a great opportunity for him.”

The South American also insisted that 35-year-old captain Francesco Totti could still be a key man at the Olimpico.

“I think that he’ll field Totti as the central striker and that will not cause any problems,” he concluded.
