Carlos Alcaraz is expected to start his first Serie A game for Juventus against Napoli tonight, getting the first real chance to prove he deserves to move to Turin permanently at the end of the season.

Weston McKennie and Adrien Rabiot’s injuries during last week’s Serie A game against Frosinone mean Alcaraz will likely start his first Serie A game at the Stadio Maradona in Naples on Sunday night.

The 21-year-old has made three appearances as a substitute since joining Juventus on an initial loan deal from Southampton in the January transfer window, so he will start for the first time in Serie A against one of Juventus’ harshest rivals.

This will be his first real chance to prove he deserves to remain in Turin permanently beyond the summer.

The Bianconeri have an option to buy for €49.5m at the end of the season and Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli explained last week that the Old Lady strongly believe in the potential of the versatile Argentinean midfielder.

The 21-year-old has recently claimed that it is “too early” to think about his long-term future in Turin but a positive performance against the troubled defending champions tonight will surely increase his chances to remain with the Old Lady beyond the summer.
