The Azzurri’s World Cup preparations will start from today, when the 30 players named in Prandelli’s provisional squad, plus the extra back-up of Antonio Mirante, meet at the Italian Football Federation’s headquarters at Coverciano.
With some in action for their clubs just last night, players can report in for the training camp up to midnight.
A first training session is set for Tuesday morning, which will be open to the media, and is scheduled to be followed by a Press conference from Prandelli and then a closed training session in the afternoon.
A similar scenario is set for Wednesday, with a player due to face the media, whilst Thursday will see head of medical staff Enrico Castellacci talk to reporters, before the group break that afternoon, ahead of then reconvening at Coverciano on Sunday May 25.
Speculation this morning is that in the wake of his announced resignation from his post as FIGC Vice-President, Demetrio Albertini will meet face to face with Prandelli to explain his decision.
The CT is said to be ‘amazed’ by the former midfielder’s move, which comes ahead of an anticipated return to former club Milan in a directorial capacity.
Reports are that Albertini will then face the Press alongside Prandelli, to explain his decision publicly.
