Milan legend Demetrio Albertini says only the Rossoneri can lose the Serie A title but insists Stefano Pioli’s men must ‘remain calm’ against Sassuolo.

The Serie A giants can win their first Scudetto in 11 years and a draw in the final away match at Sassuolo will be enough for them to become Italian champions.

“Personally, I think the Rossoneri must remain calm because they have everything to win the title. It’s all in their hands,” the former Italy international told Milannews.

“Right now, only the Rossoneri can lose the title. Inter fans remind me about May 5, 2001 [when they lost the title to Juventus]. However, Milan have the awareness needed to play crucial games such as the one against Sassuolo.

“The Milan derby in February was the turning point of the season,” Albertini continued.

“Milan always believed and managed to turn the game around. Inter’s doubts emerged and Milan increased their self-confidence. Football is the most unpredictable sport in the world.

“Stefano Pioli is doing the most challenging job because it is not easy to manage a group of 25-30 players. He has valorised every player. I am happy that things are going well for him. Being at Milan is a starting point and both Maldini and Pioli made the footballers understand it.”
