Albertini: ‘Milan should get Origi from Liverpool’

Demetrio Albertini has advised Milan to go for Liverpool benchwarmer Divock Origi in the January transfer window. ‘He’d score lots in Serie A.’

The Rossoneri are seeking reinforcements in attack after Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud and Pietro Pellegri spent much of the campaign struggling with injuries.

“Milan need to look to strikers who are kept on the bench or even in the stands and don’t get much space at their current clubs, such as Origi at Liverpool,” former Rossoneri midfielder Albertini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He would score lots of goals in Serie A. You win a Scudetto thanks to hitmen, and that is a midfielder saying that.”

Origi will be a free agent in the summer, as his contract with the Reds is running down, although there is an option to extend.

He made only 10 competitive appearances so far this season for Liverpool, but still managed to score an impressive five goals with two assists.

That includes a goal for Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Milan at San Siro on December 7.

Origi is a Belgium international with 31 senior caps to his name, in which he scored three goals.

His versatility would suit Stefano Pioli, as he can play as a centre-forward, on the left or right side of a trident attack.
