Demetrio Albertini has advised Milan to go for Liverpool benchwarmer Divock Origi in the January transfer window. ‘He’d score lots in Serie A.’

The Rossoneri are seeking reinforcements in attack after Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud and Pietro Pellegri spent much of the campaign struggling with injuries.

“Milan need to look to strikers who are kept on the bench or even in the stands and don’t get much space at their current clubs, such as Origi at Liverpool,” former Rossoneri midfielder Albertini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He would score lots of goals in Serie A. You win a Scudetto thanks to hitmen, and that is a midfielder saying that.”

Origi will be a free agent in the summer, as his contract with the Reds is running down, although there is an option to extend.

He made only 10 competitive appearances so far this season for Liverpool, but still managed to score an impressive five goals with two assists.

That includes a goal for Liverpool’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Milan at San Siro on December 7.

Origi is a Belgium international with 31 senior caps to his name, in which he scored three goals.

His versatility would suit Stefano Pioli, as he can play as a centre-forward, on the left or right side of a trident attack.

  1. No. He’s a useful backup striker who can pop up with goals at crucial times when called upon. But a regular goalscorer for a big club – no, he’s not that guy. He didn’t score lots in Ligue 1, PL or Bundesliga, so why anyone would suggest he would score lots in Serie A is beyond me. And also, while he’s useful, he’s a total donkey of a footballer.

  2. well he might score a lot in the lega.. who knows.. maybe he just needs the right league for him, just like his compatriot Lukaku who cannot compete in the prem.. I don’t know the meaning of donkey of a footballer, as Milan also had Super Pippo as their legend, and many said Pippo cannot play football.. but he still score a lot tho.

  3. Why can’t you go for a young Italian talent rather than a foreigner (no offence to the foreigners)…

  4. I also agree if Milan could at least sign a few Italian talents rather than foreigners. But I think the options is rather limited. Mention any good/talented young Italian striker other than Scamacca right now? I was hoping that Pellegri could prove his talent, but looks like it won’t be in the near future.
