Demetrio Albertini insists it’s “good not to set limits” with Italy, while he insists it’s “important” that Paolo Maldini has returned to football.
The former Milan and Italy midfielder was asked about CT Roberto Mancini’s aims of a European Championship and World Cup double, and believes that it’s the right approach to have while praising a specific call-up.
“It’s good not to set limits,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Milan and Italy midfielder was asked about CT Roberto Mancini’s aims of a European Championship and World Cup double, and believes that it’s the right approach to have while praising a specific call-up.
“It’s good not to set limits,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s not that talent is lacking, young players aren’t put in the right conditions to grow. There are players who have had more experience with the Azzurri than in European competitions.
“As a youngster, I played in the Champions League. Mancini did well to call up [Nicolo] Zaniolo.”
Meanwhile, Albertini also discussed Maldini’s return to Milan, and believes that it’s an important step having failed to convince him to take a role with the FIGC previously.
“Paolo is still in the process of learning,” he added. “He doesn’t speak much, it may seem a little forced, but we are in the age of communication. We were close to an agreement with the FIGC two or three times.
“The important thing is that he has returned to football. He has that competitiveness inside. He’s preparing for an important future.”
