Inter defender Stefan de Vrij reveals his compatriot Nathan Aké inspired him to play the piano.
The Inter centre-back has a strong passion for music and was featured in ‘Hey Brother’, a song by Italian emerging rock band Keemosabe who took part in the Italian edition of X Factor in 2019.
“We have a common friend who knows my passion for the piano,” de Vrij told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Once, he told me about this emerging band that I didn’t know. He offered me to meet them and I liked ‘Hey brother’ as soon as I listened to it, so here I am.

“I was a little bit nervous when I played with them, because I am not accustomed to these situations. I feel more at ease inside the stadium, it’s much different on the stage,” the former Lazio man continued.
“I like all kinds of music, I’ve gone to many concerts, I grew up with rock, but I like Hip Hop and R&B. I like the groups Django Django and Tame Impala and of course Keemosabe. As for pianists, Ludovico Einaudi is the No.1 for me. and with Romelu Lukaku, we listen to Dutch R&B.”
When did he learn to play the piano?
“I’ve always been attracted by it, but I had never thought about playing it. But one day I saw my Netherlands teammate Aké playing it and I thought: ‘Why not?’
“I started using some apps on the iPad and I’ve improved a lot. I studied one hour a day and I’ve recently bought a music keyboard to practice on holiday.”
