Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre, one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s closest friends, claims that the Manchester United superstar has decided against joining Napoli.
Aguirre revealed during El Chiringuito that the ex-Juventus forward is unwilling to join the Partenopei.
The Spanish journalist is one of Ronaldo’s closest friends and often visited him in Turin when CR7 was playing for Juventus.
Ronaldo is looking for an escape route from Old Trafford as he wants to play Champions League football.
His agent Jorge Mendes had offered him to Napoli, allowing United to sign Victor Osimhen for more than €100m. Ronaldo would have moved to the Stadio Maradona on loan with part of the salary paid by the Red Devils.
However, United are now close to signing Ajax star Antony for circa €100m, so a similar investment in Osimhen seems unlikely.
Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 appearances with Juventus during his three-year spell in Turin.
