Inter are hardly just going to defend in the Champions League Final with Manchester City, warns Sergio Aguero. ‘They have one of the best firepowers in Europe.’

The showdown is at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday evening at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

While Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions are the favourites, former City striker Aguero explains why this is going to be far from just a battle of defence against attack.

“Inter have great forwards,” Aguero told Stake.com.

“We are talking about Edin Dzeko, but we must talk about Lautaro Martinez who, having overcome his physical problems after the World Cup, has been key for the Italian club, and if we add Romelu Lukaku, we see the power they have.

“Lukaku brings a lot of physical play, holds the ball very well and in addition to being a goalscorer, he posts up to leave his teammates to define. In short, one of the best firepowers in Europe.”

Coach Simone Inzaghi is widely expected to start with 37-year-old Dzeko, a former strike partner to Aguero at Manchester City, with Lukaku coming off the bench for the second half against tired legs.

“Today he is still that dangerous player who can score at any time. No wonder he had such a good season at Inter. He always demands, he is very important in the passing game. Surely he will be one of those that City have to be especially careful of.”

Dzeko has found the net 14 times in 51 competitive games for Inter this season, as well as providing five assists.

Lukaku also scored 14 goals, despite only managing 36 appearances due to injury problems that also limited him at the 2022 World Cup for Belgium.

While those two battle to start, Lautaro Martinez is guaranteed his place with 28 goals and 11 assists in 56 official matches.
