According to Il Corriere dello Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sandro Tonali will be banned for 10 months, so he will play his next game for Newcastle in August 2024.

The Italian midfielder likely made his last appearance for the Magpies in 2023-24 in a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night, coming off the bench at minute 65.

Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the FIGC Prosecutor will offer Tonali a 10-month ban plus eight months of alternative treatment and public appearances.

As per Il Corriere dello Sport, the two parties have already reached an agreement over a ten-month suspension, which will be confirmed by the FIGC Prosecutor today, Thursday, October 26. CorSport confirms the ban comes with eight months of alternative treatment.

Tonali’s lawyers have been negotiating a plea bargain with the FIGC Prosecutor this week. The Italian midfielder admitted he gambled on Milan and Brescia games while under contract with the clubs, although he always bet them to win.

He assisted the Turin and FIGC Prosecutor and sought help to treat his gambling addiction so his lawyers could negotiate a lower suspension, which, for breach of Article 24, could have been higher than three years.
